Zenit VS Rubin

Russian Premier League

Posted on: April 5, 2014 at 2:49PM

Handicap: Home -1

Analysis:

Tomorrow we will have a match between waken-up Zenit and Rubin that is sinking in problems. Bad results and problems in the squad had resulted with sacking of coach Spalletti and new manager, Villas-Boas is already improving things. Two wins in a row and Zenit are now back in the title race as they are trailing just one point behind Lokomotiv. With a win against Rubin, they would put pressure on their Moscow rivals. Anyway, it wont be easy as Zenit will have to overcome two things. First is very bad tradition against team from Kazan. They havent beaten them in St. Petersburg since the summer of 2010. Last two meetings ended in away win, but I believe that Rubin were a much bigger force at that time. Second thing is, the missing of first two keepers. Both Malafeev and Baburin are out, so the goal will be defended by Lodyagin. Oleg Shatov will miss in the midfield. But Rubin will have even bigger problems, as keeper Ryzhikov is suspended. Midfileders MVilla and Torbinsky are also out, as well as defender Burlak. So, Rubin will have to put a lot of subs in the line up and I dont see them holding Kerzhakov Hulk and Danny for 90 minutes. Zenits motivation is the key here and I believe they will break the negative tradition and win this one.

Spartak Moscow VS Ural

Russian Premier League

Posted on: April 4, 2014 at 3:38AM

Handicap: Over 2.5

Analysis:

Spartak are in terrible run. They havent won a single match this year, and have 2 defeats and 2 draws since the season restarted. Still, from those 4 games, 3 were on the road but nothing can make their performance acceptable. They lost in Grozny and in Krasnodar, conceded 5 goals and scored none. Between them there was a match with Anzhi at home, when they had a comfortable 2-0 lead at HT and still managed to drop it. In the last round, they had a goalless draw against Lokomotiv, a bit surprising result against league leaders. Maybe it is a sign of something new for red and white team. Spartak recently got a new coach, Dmitry Gunko, and it is yet to be seen what impact his work had on this team. On the other side, Ural have been reborn after the break in the championship. A team that was deep in relegation zone have managed to win 3 out of 4 games so far. They lost against league leaders but have beaten Terek, Krasnodar and Anzhi, all teams that Spartak failed to beat. Funny thing is that Ural lost 3-0 against Loko, while Spartak managed to escape with a draw. Ural are really looking well and the confidence is sky-high in team from Ekaterinburg. The tradition is not on their side, 8-1-0 for Spartak, but, having in mind the situation in the home side, it wouldnt be a surprise if the tradition changes today. The first match in Ekaterinburg ended 0-2 for Spartak, but the goals were scored by McGeady and Emenike, pleyers who are not in the club anymore. Both teams will start in strongest line ups. I believe that both teams will score here and that we will see at least 3 goals. Spartak will have to go for a win, as they need points to get European spot for the next season. On the other side, their defence is quite shaky and Ural will score, at least once, I am sure of that.

Sunderland VS West Ham

English Premier League

Posted on: March 31, 2014 at 4:23AM

Handicap: Home -0.5

Analysis:

Sunderland are in a bad streak and in even worse position. In last five rounds they have won only one point. They did play against Arsenal and Liverpool on the road but also had Hull at home and trip to Norwich, and all four were lost. Anyway, the second half at Anfield during the midweek was something that brings hope that Black Cats can somehow save themselves from relegation. They played well, got to 2-1 and missed a 100% chance in the additional time. If they play like that in this game, there is no worry for them. On the other side, Hammers have ended a bad streak of three losses with a win at home against Hull City. They are an average team and both the table and their away record are confirming it. The points are far more needed for Sunderland and I believe that is what will be deciding in motivation of the two teams. I will go for the home side here.

Liverpool VS Tottenham

English Premier League

Posted on: March 30, 2014 at 3:36AM

Handicap: Over 3.5

Analysis:

Last time Liverpool didnt deliver the 4 goals I needed but I believe that wont be the case today. They are playing against a side that is far more an attacking minded team, but also one that is quite vulnerable in defence. In fact both teams have problems in the last line, and are conceding quite easily. Liverpool almost dropped a 2-0 lead against Sunderland in the last round. Black cats scored one goal and had a 100% chance in the stoppage time when John O Shea missed the header from vicinity. On the other side, Suarez and Sturridge are doing miracles and this match has huge importance for Liverpool. Chelsea lost yesterday, while Arsenal and Manchester city shared 2 points in a draw. Great chance for Reds to make the title dream more alive than ever. Anyway, I see goals in both nets here, and over 3.5 is my bet.

Sporting - Guimaraes

Portuguese Liga

Posted on: March 29, 2014 at 7:32AM

Handicap: Home -1.25

Analysis:

I believe no one in Sporting could have predict that they will be in the race for Champions League just six rounds before the end of the season. Now when they have the CL qualification spot, they will fight to save it until the end of the season. They are 5 points above Porto and it will be tough to stay there as Porto are difficult opponent. On the other side, Sporting are the only team except league leaders Benfica who can tell that they havent lost a sing game at home this season. Sporting are in good form and the latest win in Maritimo gave them wings. On the other side, guests are safe from relegation and could maybe catch the Europa League spot but it is really a long shot. I believe Sporting will win this one with ease and the win should be more than one goal of difference.

Schalke VS Hertha

German Bundesliga

Posted on: March 28, 2014 at 7:04AM

Handicap: Home -1

Analysis:

Well I dont really understand the odds that are this high on Schalke to win. I am aware that they had a goalless draw in Dortmund during the midweek but still it is a great result for any side. They are third placed on the Bundesliga table, just one point away from second, which is held by Dortmund. On the other side, Leverkusen are just 4 points behind them and with a failure they could lose the spot that leads directly to Champions League. But this bet is not so much on Huntelaar and others but a bet against Hertha Berlin. I watched them in the last round against Bayern, and my god, I have never seen such a bad team in Bundesliga. They are awful in defence and every single ball opens them wide and is a goal chance. It is just Bayerns mercy what saved them from conceding 10 goals in last round. I believe they will be even worse on the road and I expect at least a 2 goal margin win for Schalke.

Liverpool VS Sunderland

English Premier League

Posted on: March 26, 2014 at 10:21AM

Handicap: Over 3.5

Analysis:

Liverpool are on magnificent run. They are having the season from dreams, the one that fans missed for the last 20 years. Brendan Rodgers is doin a great job, apart from his results, players are very happy with his style of managing and the things are looking very well for the Reds. The incredible SAS duo (Sturridge and Suarez) is probably going to be the one of the most dangerous attacking pair in the football history. They are scoring with ease and in last six matches they have not finished the game under 3 goals on their account. On the other side, there still are things to be done in defence to improve it, as they are still prone to conceding, and just Cardiff scored 3 against them. I believe Over 3.5 goals is priced quite well and that we will see at least 4 goals here. Good luck!

Hibernian VS Dundee United

Scotland Premier League

Posted on: February 28, 2014 at 9:06AM

Handicap: Over 2.5

Analysis:

Another interesting match in Scottish Premier League. Popular Hibbs are placed second and are still not completely safe from relegation. After three straight defeats they have found some form and have won against Ross County at home and in the last round they came home with a point from Kilmarnock. They are conceding a lot at home and I believe they will also do that tonight. Dundee United are in similar situation regarding form but have won in last two matches at home. They have beaten Kilmarnock and Motherwell and have scored 6 goals in those two but also conceded 3 times. As they are still searching for the Europa League form I believe neither side will settle for a draw. I expect an open game and at least three goals.

Hertha Berlin VS Freiburg

German Bundesliga

Posted on: February 28, 2014 at 4:25AM

Handicap: Over 2.5

Analysis:

Hertha are one strange team. They lost against Nurnberg at home, then they went and won in Hamburg 3-0, on the same pitch where Dortmund suffered a 3-0 defeat. And when everyone thought they are in form, they lost at home against Wolfsburg 1-2. Guess what happened in the latest away game against Stuttgart. Yes, they won 2-1. It is really difficult to understand what is happening in their home games, but it seems that they simply cant cope with the pressure when they fans expect them to win. In away games, that pressure is off and they can play their best game. Now they will host Freiburg, a team that is in crisis as they won just one point in last 4 rounds. In latest game they lost 2-4 at home against Augsburg although they had a man more on the pitch for the majority of the match. They can score and I believe they will do that tonight, as well as the hosts. I dont trust Hertha at home, not yet, and I am choosing goals here.

Napoli VS Swansea

UEFA Europa League

Posted on: February 27, 2014 at 2:40AM

Handicap: Home -0.75

Analysis:

I rarely bet on a winner in Europa League but this match seems quite acceptable and the odds are just fine. Napoli will have their best team tonight as this competition is very important for them. It is expected that all their stars, including Callejon, Hamsik and Higuain will be in starting eleven. They are not doing great in the league and latest of their results shows a decline in form. 1-1 at home against Genoa is unacceptable even for teams from the middle of the table. On the other side, Swansea are coming to Naples after a thriller match at Anfield against Liverpool. In the end they lost the game 4-3 but deserved credits for fighting spirit and for scoring three goals on a tough pitch. Now I believe they will be more tired than the hosts and I expect that Benitez will find a way to get his team in the next phase. Home win, maybe even with two goals margin.
